Dr. Shaival Dalal is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon- Arthroscopy, Joint Preservation and Sports Medicine Specialist at Arthro One Orthopaedic Specialty Centre. He is also a Member and Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons (UK). A keen learner, apart from the highest international surgical qualification- Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons, he has several other international specialist qualifications to his name like Fellowship in Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty and Trauma; Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine under IOC (International Olympic Committee); Diploma in Football Medicine under FIFA and Diploma in Sports Medicine (U.S.A.)


Dr. Dalal completed his MBBS & then his Masters in Orthopaedics(gold medal), both from Gujarat University. He did his basic orthopaedic training as a resident doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the well-known Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad & then served as an Assistant Professor in L.G. Hospital, both in Gujarat. He then moved to UK for further specialty training and fellowship where he worked at the Princess of Wales Hospital in the South Wales Rotation Program, and also in Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He has to his credit membership of the Royal College of Surgeons(UK), General Medical Council(UK), British Indian Orthopaedic Society, British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, ISAKOS, ISKSAA and IOA.

  • Ligament surgery: ACL, PCL and multi-ligament stabilisation.

  • Meniscal repair.

  • Patellofemoral pathology, covering areas like patellar instability (MPFL, TTO (tibial tubercle osteotomy), Trochleoplasty), articular cartilage repair through to joint replacement.

  • Realignment osteotomy: HTO (High Tibial Osteotomy) and DFO ( Distal Femoral Osteotomy).

  • Unicompartmental replacement: Medial , Lateral and Patellofemoral

  • Total Knee Replacement including Oxinium, Robotic-assisted and Patient Specific Jigs.

  • Regenerative surgery: Microfracture and Cartilage replacement with Microstructural scaffold technique, PRP, stem cells, OATS, ACI(Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation) 

  • Osteochondral and Meniscal Allograft Transplantation.

  • Ankle surgery- for ligament sprains, osteochondral injuries and  impingement done arthroscopically.

Apart from orthopaedic treatment of Sports Injuries, Dr Dalal also has extensive experience in developing prevention and rehabilitation programs of sports injuries, , on-field assessment and treatment and formulating multidisciplinary  management programs to enhance sports performance and recovery for elite and amateur sportspersons . Over many years, he has been actively involved in the on-field and definitive treatment of various sporting injuries in cricket, football, athletics, tennis, rugby, etc.

One of his greatest passions is sharing evidence based information to help patients understand their orthopaedic problems and choices of treatment. He is a firm advocate of joint preservation using proven treatment modalities in the form of various non-surgical and surgical options.  Dr Dalal aims to bring the best of both worlds to his patients and believes in joint-decision making between the patient and the doctor.


Between work and family, whatever spare time he can get, he spends exercising, playing sports, reading, teaching and travelling. He speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi fluently.
